Location

The cottage is situated within the grounds of Pen-y-Parc House - a 300 year old farmhouse. The house and cottage are set high in an area of outstanding natural beauty above the Wye Valley to the East and with the Black Mountains to the West. There is  easy access from the Severn Bridge (5 miles) and the historic towns of Chepstow and  Monmouth. Tintern  with its famous Abbey is just four miles away.

 

Interior

 

The cottage was created in 1993 by converting a stone built barn, previously the hay store for the farm.   Whilst maintaining the original stone/slate construction for the exterior of the building, the interior has been completely re-constructed and fitted to provide all the comforts of modern day living.

 

A single floor layout provides spacious lounge/dining accommodation and a fully fitted kitchen/breakfast bar Includes an  electric cooker, microwave, and fridge/freezer. 

 

The bathroom has been specially designed to provide comfort and relaxation and there is a full size bath and integral shower.

There are 3 bedrooms - two identical twin rooms and a single room. All beds are provided with duvets, covers  pillows and sheets. Bath and hand towels are provided.

The cottage has full central heating and instant hot water availability at all times

Cooking is by electric oven and top hob with hood and extractor fan. There is also a microwave oven, an automatic washing machine and a fridge/freezer.  There are no extra charges for heating, cooking, or electricity. Colour TV/VCR/DVD  and CD/Radio/ Cassette are in the lounge.

Exterior

There is private parking  adjacent to the cottage. The cottage has its own garden area with lawn, rockery,  patio, and barbecue. There is wheel chair access through the French Doors.

Things to do

Pen-y-Parc is set alongside thousands of acres of forestry land with numerous walks. There are numerous historical sites including the castles at Chepstow, Caldicot, Raglan and Penhow. Tintern with its famous Abbey is just 4 miles away. Chepstow Race Course is within ten minutes drive of the cottage. There are many golf courses within a 30 minute drive including the championship course at St. Pierre. Visitors are welcome at the attractive and testing Dewstow Golf Club where tee times can be arranged on request.

For the adventurous the Brecon Beacons are within one hours drive, as are the cities of Cardiff, Bath and Bristol.

Getting to Pen-y-Parc      multimap

1. From the East and South

At Junction 21 on the M4 select the M48 towards Chepstow. Exit  M48 at end of Severn Bridge towards Chepstow. Take the A466 towards Tintern and Monmouth. Go past Chepstow Race Course on the right . At St. Arvans, turn left into the village just beyond the Piercefield pub/diner, signposted Devauden, go up the hill for just over a mile and Pen-y-Parc House is at the top of the hill on the left.

2. From the West

Take the M48 signposted Chepstow from the M4 and then proceed as above.

3. From the  North

Take the M 50 exit from the M5 and proceed towards Ross on Wye and Monmouth. At Monmouth take the A466 road towards Chepstow. After Tintern proceed to St. Arvans and turn right in the village towards Devauden. Drive up the hill for over a mile and Pen-y-Parc House is on the left hand side at the top of the hill.
